Weather Equipment > Upgrades & Alternatives

The weather equipment upgrades range covers a selection of practical accessories that improve day-to-day comfort, usability, and long-term storage care. Electric Window Kit Converting the manual window winders to electric operation is one of the most appreciated practical upgrades, particularly for Roadster owners who use the car in changeable weather and want to raise or lower a window quickly. The conversion replaces the manual winder mechanism within the door with an electric motor and provides switch pods that fit over the existing winder handle apertures in the door trim, so no new holes are required. The conversion fits all Roadsters from 1965 onwards. Sun Visor Kits Replacement sun visors and complete fitting kits are available for the Roadster in RHD and LHD specification. Sun visors became standard factory fitment on the Roadster from September 1976, so earlier cars were not equipped with them and will need the full fitting kit including all brackets, pivots, and fixings. Dehumidifiers A compact cabin dehumidifier absorbs interior moisture during storage, preventing window fogging, damp odours, and the mould growth that develops in a laid-up car. A colour-changing indicator shows when recharging is needed. Maintaining low humidity inside the cabin is one of the simplest and most effective measures for preserving interior trim, carpets, and hood lining during a winter lay-up. Tyre Savers Curved cradle platforms that the tyres sit in during storage, distributing the car's weight more evenly across the tread face rather than concentrating it on a single contact patch. A car left stationary for an extended period develops flat spots where the tyre deforms under load, causing vibration and uneven wear once the car returns to use. Tyre savers prevent this and help maintain tyre condition over a winter lay-up. Upgraded Hood Materials Premium hood materials are available for improved appearance and longevity. Mohair provides a more authentic period appearance and superior drape compared to vinyl, sitting closer to the hood frame for a neater profile and producing less wind noise at speed, though it requires more frequent reproofing treatment to maintain water resistance. Modern vinyl formulations offer improved UV resistance and easier maintenance over the originals, and are the more practical choice for a car that spends time outside or is driven regularly in all weathers.
