Upgraded air filters offer improved airflow over standard paper elements. K&N pancake filters provide up to 40% more airflow with excellent filtration and minimal maintenance. Chrome SU-style filters offer a period-appropriate appearance enhancement. Both may be used with stub stacks for a further measurable airflow improvement.
Stub stacks are highly recommended and represent one of the most cost-effective performance improvements available for the SU HS6 installation.
Performance Fuel Delivery
For tuned engines, the standard mechanical SU pump may struggle at sustained high engine speeds. Three alternatives are available: Hardi solid-state metal-bodied pumps with printed circuit board electronics, Facet Posi-Flow self-priming pumps with one-way check valve, and performance electric pump kits for maximum flow. A fuel pressure regulator should always be used with a performance electric pump to prevent over-pressurisation of the SU float chambers, SU carburettors operate at very low pressure (1.5 to 3 psi), and excessive pressure overcomes the float needle and causes flooding.
Polished Heatshield
A polished heatshield improves heat reflection, keeping float chambers cooler, and enhances engine bay appearance over the original painted item.
