In the mid-engined MGF and MG TF the engine sits transversely behind the cockpit, and the engine cover is the trimmed panel that closes off the engine compartment from the cabin side. It forms part of the rear cockpit trim, provides a degree of heat and noise insulation between the engine bay and the occupants, and gives a finished appearance to the bulkhead area behind the seats.
Trim & Insulation
The cover is finished to match the interior and works alongside the surrounding carpet and trim panels. Over time the trim can become marked, faded, or detached, and the insulation behind it can deteriorate with heat cycling, allowing more engine noise and warmth into the cabin. Renewing the cover and its insulation restores both the appearance and the acoustic comfort of the interior.
Fixings & Fitment
The cover is held by clips and fixings to the body, and these can work loose or break with age and with the repeated access needed for engine servicing. The correct clips and fasteners are catalogued so the panel can be refitted securely without rattles.
The MGOC Spares range covers the engine cover trim, its insulation, and the associated clips and fixings for the MGF and MG TF. If you cannot find a specific item online, please contact our sales team, who can advise on availability.
