MG-motif threshold plates in polished stainless steel provide a finishing detail at the door entry point that protects the painted outer sill from scuffing by the driver’s and passenger’s shoes. Every time someone enters or exits the car, their foot crosses the sill, on a car without threshold plates, the paint in this area is gradually worn through to bare metal, where corrosion quickly takes hold.
Threshold Plate Markings
The plates are engraved or etched with the MG logo and ’MIDGET’ lettering, providing an attractive branded detail that is visible every time the door is opened. They are secured to the sill by self-tapping screws, a stainless steel screw kit is available for each side. The screw holes should be drilled with care to avoid penetrating the inner sill structure, and the screws should be coated with a thread sealant to prevent water ingress through the holes.
Fitting and Compatibility
Threshold plates are available in pairs (one per door) and are suitable for all Midget models regardless of production date. They are one of the simplest and most effective accessories for both protecting the car and enhancing its interior presentation.
