Dashboard fixings cover the mounting hardware and ancillary components that secure the Midget’s padded crash rail and instruments to the fascia panel. The crash rail is a hardwood rail wrapped in foam padding and vinyl, mounted to the top of the fascia by studs that pass through the panel from behind.
Crash Rail Fixings
A crash rail fixing kit contains the nuts, washers, and any spacers needed to secure the crash rail. Instrument bezels, the chrome or black surrounds that frame each instrument, clip into the dashboard face and hold the instruments in position. Switch bezels provide the same function for the dashboard switches. The heater control panel surround frames the heater controls.
Removal Notes
When removing a crash rail for recovering or replacement, the instrument wiring connections behind the dashboard should be noted carefully, photographing each connection before disconnection provides a reliable reference for reassembly. The fixings should be stored in a labelled bag, as the stud lengths and spacer positions differ between mounting points.
