The accelerator cable connects the pedal to the carburettor throttle or injection throttle body. Cable lengths and end fittings differ between fuel system types. Pedal specifications changed between carburettor (up to 1996) and MPi (1997 to 2000), with RHD and LHD variants. The pedal rubber should be replaced if worn, a smooth surface causes the foot to slip under braking or acceleration.
Choke Controls
Carburettor models have a manual choke cable from the dashboard. Two types were used, twist-lock and ratchet-lock (from 1987). Cable lengths differ between engine sizes and carburettor types.
