A delayed engagement of the overdrive on an MGB can be attributed to a failed solenoid. Breaks in the windings of the electromagnetic coil are not uncommon with earlier replacement spares being wrapped in electrical tape making them vulnerable to premature failure. MGOC Spares are pleased to offer a new improved coil (part number 37H1935) based on the original design which is totally encapsulated in plastic making it impervious to oil contamination and wire detachment; suitable for MGBs fitted with LH Laycock overdrives (from 1967 onwards). Previously unavailable, MGOC Spares also stocks complete replacement solenoid assemblies (part number 37H1934) comprising machined housing, coil, plunger, ball bearing, piston and o rings.
NOTE: Early LH Solenoid valve assemblies included a piston with a 'Top Hat' like design. This has been superseeded by a flat faced piston. There is no difference in function/operation. The piston styles are interchangeable.
