Owners who report a fuel starvation issue in their MG may find it the result of an accumulation of rusted deposits at the fuel pick-up constricting fuel delivery. Steel fuel tanks are susceptible to rusting from the inside out which can affect your MGs performance with corrosion taking hold when owners lay-up their classics for long periods; particularly evident when storing with a partially filled tank which invites water to enter either through condensation and/or in the case of ethanol fuels, through water separation. To prolong the life of the tank and prevent running issues, MGOC Spares recommends treating fuel tanks with Tapox, an inner tank coating system suitable for steel or aluminium tanks resistant to fuel and ethanol. Tapox is supplied in a two part kit sufficient to treat a 40 litre fuel tank comprising Tapox 285ml & TX10 hardener 160ml.
