MGF & TF bonnet release cables are susceptible to snapping, so it pays to inspect the cable eye for corrosion and check that the length of pull on the bonnet release leaver remains consistent over time. Replacement of the bonnet release cable is advised when additional pull is required to release the bonnet or corrosion on the cable eye is present. You only need ask an owner who has had the misfortune of the inner cable snapping to find that fitting a replacement at the first signs of fatigue is a far easier remedy than replacing the cable once broken.
