Developed by Hi-Gear engineering, with the aim being to offer a 5th selectable ratio under the control of a clutch and gear lever. The kit is designed around the Ford Type 9 gearbox (supplied separately) offering owners of non-overdrive vehicles relaxed motorway cruising at significantly power rpm, improved fuel economy, slick gear changes with synchromesh on all gears and a 10% higher gear for more responsive acceleration and safer overtaking. Available for early 3 synchromesh and later 4 synchromesh MGBs with or without overdrive, in right or left hand drive, MGA 1500 & 1600 right or left hand drive models, with optional backplates available separately for MGA owners making use of MGB engines or for T-Types and Magnettes. These proven and well established kits comprise of an alloy bell housing, propshaft, gearbox cross member, speedo cable, fixings and comprehensive instructions for straightforward DIY installation.
