Originally specified for early classic Minis up to 1967 and Mini Cooper S models with Hydrolastic suspension from 1964 onwards. 5/8" (15.9mm) bore.
MGB Competition Application: MGB racers often reduce the bore of the rear wheel cylinders to reduce rear brake lock-up, allowing greater braking effort to be applied at the front. The standard MGB Roadster and early GT rear wheel cylinder has a 4/5" (20.3mm) bore. GWC1101, with its 5/8" (15.9mm) bore, reduces piston area by approximately 39%, significantly reducing rear braking effort and shifting brake bias towards the front. For a more modest reduction, the Midget 1500 rear wheel cylinder GWC1129 has an 11/16" (17.5mm) bore, reducing piston area by approximately 26% compared with the standard 0.800" MGB cylinder.
