The engine management system on a K series engine operates using three primary indicators, engine speed indicated by the crank sensor; pressure measured by the inlet manifold pressure sensor and throttle position measured by a variable resistance potentiometer (Throttle Position Sensor). A failure of either of these three components should be diagnosed using a T4 diagnostic, and following replacement of the defective component resolve a rough idle and/or poor acceleration.
