Balancing wire wheels requires specialist equipment which some tyre centres lack leading to poorly balanced wire wheels evidenced by steering wheel shake and uneven tyre wear. Compact balancing cone kits are manufactured from high tensile plastic with 40mm bore and supplied with a pair of metal slip bushes to fit balancing machines with 36mm spindles. Two kits are available, 42mm to suit all wire wheel MGs, Austin Healey, Morgan, Triumph etc. and 52mm to suit Jaguar (not XK), Rover, Alvis etc.
