MG TD & TF Fuel

Fuel

The TD had SU type H2 (1 ¼”) slightly inclined semi-downdraught carburettors with standard needle ES and 0.090” jets. Fuel was delivered by a type L, SU electric fuel pump mounted on the right-hand side of the bulkhead. The TF had the larger type H4 (1 ½”) carburettors with standard GJ needles and 0.090” jets. Initially, the TF had a low-pressure fuel pump like that of the TD but from chassis number 1501 in 1953, a high-pressure (HP) type pump was fitted. A 12.5-gallon fuel tank was strapped to the back of the chassis and was painted to match the body colour.
