Stainless Steel Systems
The Double S stainless steel exhaust system is the most significant single upgrade available for the TD and TF exhaust. Manufactured in Britain from 309 and 401 grade stainless steel with a mirror-finish silencer, the system is produced to accurate tolerances for straightforward DIY fitment and is supplied with a lifetime guarantee. The corrosion resistance is the principal benefit, as the internal condensation that attacks mild steel from the inside, especially on cars that are not driven regularly to full operating temperature, is simply not a problem with stainless, so for cars that spend winter months in storage the stainless system pays for itself over time by eliminating the cycle of repeated mild steel replacement.
Thermal Management
Exhaust manifold wrap is wound around the manifold to reduce radiant heat from the exhaust into the engine bay, lowering under-bonnet temperatures and helping to maintain exhaust gas velocity through the system, and is supplied alongside a separate wrap fixings set for securing it in place. Aluminised fabric sheeting, supplied in one-metre square sheets, provides additional thermal protection for the engine bay and bonnet underside, and can be applied to any surface subject to exhaust heat radiation.
Exhaust Finishing
High-temperature exhaust paint is formulated to withstand the operating temperatures of the exhaust system and is available in black, silver, red, and white, standard paint blistering and burning off the exhaust within minutes so that only purpose-formulated high-temperature paint survives on exhaust components. Exhaust jointing seal is available for gas-tight connections at the manifold-to-downpipe and pipe-to-silencer joints, particularly useful when reassembling a system with imperfect flange faces or when reusing a clamp joint. Thermal management products are not variant-specific and suit both TD and TF installations, while high-temperature paint and jointing seal are consumables useful in any exhaust overhaul.
