The bodywork upgrades section covers products that protect and maintain the Midget's external finish, improve visibility in wet weather, and add towing capability for lightweight trailers.
Polish & Body Protection
Polish and body protection products maintain and preserve the paintwork, chrome, and other exterior surfaces. A well-maintained paint finish is the Midget's first line of defence against corrosion, as once the paint breaks down, moisture reaches the bare steel and the deterioration accelerates rapidly, so regular application of a quality body protectant provides a sacrificial barrier between the paint and the elements, particularly important on cars used through the winter months or stored in damp conditions without a heated garage.
Rain-X & Towbars
Rain-X windscreen treatments cause water to bead and sheet off the glass at speed, dramatically improving forward visibility in heavy rain, and on a car with a small windscreen and a basic continuous-only wiper system this effect is particularly valuable, as at motorway speeds the water disperses from the treated glass almost as fast as it lands, reducing dependence on the wipers, though it is applied to the outside of the glass and requires periodic reapplication as the coating wears. Towbar kits are available for both chrome-bumper and rubber-bumper models, allowing the Midget to tow a lightweight trailer for luggage, a spare set of wheels for track days, or equipment for shows and events, the towbar mounting to the rear chassis legs and designed to sit within or beneath the bumper line, with installation kits, covers, wiring kits, and tow balls available separately. The Midget's modest kerb weight and engine output mean it should only be used for towing light loads, a small box trailer or folding camping trailer being the practical limit.
