Carpet sets are manufactured in the UK by Newton Commercial and are available in two quality specifications across the full range of Midget interior colours. Bespoke interiors in custom colour schemes are also available for owners who want something outside the standard palette.
Carpet Sets
The Standard carpet set provides a quality cut-pile carpet in the correct pattern for the car's production date, including carpet for the footwells, tunnel, rear cockpit area, and sills. Carpet colour should be matched to the trim period, the colour chart in the Interior section provides guidance by production date. The Ultimate carpet set uses the same cut-pile carpet but includes an additional bonded layer of soundproofing material beneath, neatly stitched bindings, and precision-moulded sections for the gearbox tunnel. The bonded soundproofing provides noticeably better thermal and acoustic insulation than a standard set laid over separate material, as the two layers work as a single unit rather than shifting independently.
Boot carpet sets in standard and deluxe configurations are also available within this section.
Footwell Mats and Spare Wheel Covers
Rubber footwell over-mats protect the carpet from dirt and wear. These are moulded to the Midget footwell shape and sit on top of the carpet, preventing mud and water from ground-in footwear from staining and degrading the carpet beneath.
Original-style black rubber sill mats are available for owners who prefer the factory appearance over carpeted sills. Vinyl spare wheel covers keep the spare wheel clean and prevent it from marking the boot carpet or boot floor.
Carpet Fixings
Carpet fixings include the adhesive, press studs, turn buttons, and edge trim needed to secure the carpet set to the floor and tunnel. A paint-on contact adhesive is recommended over spray adhesive for superior control during installation.
When fitting, the orientation of each carpet section should be checked before applying adhesive, contact adhesive has limited working time and repositioning after the glue has begun to set will damage the carpet. Some wedging of the carpet over contoured areas using timber blocks may be necessary to ensure proper adhesion on the tunnel and footwell curves.
Trim Tools
Trim tools are specialist hand tools designed for removing and fitting interior trim without damaging the components or surrounding paintwork. Trim removal tools lever clips, push-fit fasteners, and spring retainers free without bending or breaking them, essential when working with trim clips that have become brittle with age and will snap if forced with a standard screwdriver.
