Why Cross-Marque Knowledge Matters
Throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s, BMC and later British Leyland standardised components across multiple marques to control manufacturing costs and simplify dealer parts supply. The result is that a Midget owner, a Morris Minor owner and a Sprite owner are all fundamentally working with variants of the same A-Series engine; an MGB owner and an Austin-Healey 3000 owner share large parts of the SU fuel system and many electrical components; an MGC owner and a Jaguar owner draw on overlapping inventory for instruments, switches and trim hardware. Knowing which parts are interchangeable, which superseded earlier types, and which look identical but differ in critical detail is the everyday work of our parts team.
