The ignition coil is mounted on the inner wing valance. The standard push-in HT lead type provides original specification, while a Lucas Sports coil offers a stronger spark for improved economy and performance. High-energy coils are available specifically for Magnetronic and Optronic electronic ignition systems. A stainless steel custom coil cover provides an attractive under-bonnet detail.
Coil mounting screws and washers differ between home market and North American specification. A Lucas coil decal maintains the period appearance.
Spark Plugs and HT Leads
The C-series six-cylinder engine uses six spark plugs, N9YC (Champion) or BP6ES (NGK) as standard, with NGK Gold plugs with gold palladium electrodes as a premium option. A softer-grade plug is available for tuned long-stroke engines to help prevent run-on. HT lead kits and copper-core HT lead by the metre are available, along with six suppressed spark plug caps.
