Steel fuel pipework runs from the rear-mounted fuel tank, along the chassis sides under the floor, up to the engine bay and to the right-hand-side mechanical fuel pump. From the pump, a further pipe run carries fuel to the twin carburettors. The pipework is formed steel with copper-alloy or zinc plating for corrosion protection, formed to the V8's specific routings.
Pipe Clips and Fixings
Pipe clips secure the steel pipework to the chassis at intervals, typically every 18 to 24 inches, to prevent vibration and chafing damage. The clips have rubber inserts that isolate the pipe from the chassis and absorb minor movement. Worn or missing clips are a frequent point of pipe damage on older cars.
Replacement
Replacement pipework is available as cut lengths for spot repair, or as pre-formed kits that include the major pipe runs ready to fit. See Fuel Line Kits for the complete kit option.
MGOC Spares
MGOC Spares supplies steel fuel pipework in cut lengths and pre-formed kits, alongside pipe clips, unions and all associated fittings for the MGB GT V8.
