The Sebring body kit is the most comprehensive exterior styling modification available, reproducing the panels fitted to the factory cars campaigned at the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race in Florida during the 1960s, where factory-supported MGBs and MGCs competed wearing distinctive flared-wing bodywork, aerodynamic valances, and headlamp cowls. The Sebring treatment gives the car a more aggressive, competition-derived appearance, with wider wheel arch extensions, reshaped valances with functional air scoops, and cowled headlamps replacing the standard faired-in units.
Components
Sebring wing kits comprising all four wings are available for both Roadster and GT, replacing the standard wings with flared-arch competition panels that accommodate wider tyres and provide a muscular, purposeful stance. Individual front and rear valances, headlamp cowls with complete fitting kits, and each panel within the kit are all available separately for owners building a full conversion in stages or fitting a single element for a more subtle change. The front valance, which first appeared on the Sebring racing cars, features air scoops that direct cooling air towards the front brakes, a functional benefit alongside the visual transformation that is particularly relevant on the MGC with its Girling front brakes when used in spirited driving. The rear valance improves aerodynamics and complements the front, while the perspex headlamp cowls reduce frontal drag and add one of the most recognisable competition details of the era.
Construction & Fitting
The Sebring panels are manufactured in fibreglass, making them lightweight and completely corrosion-proof. Fitting requires bodywork modification and is best carried out by an experienced body shop or a competent home restorer, as panel alignment and gap consistency are critical to achieving a clean finished result. The complete Sebring transformation is one of the most striking expressions of 1960s British sports car competition styling, and the MGC's muscular six-cylinder character suits it particularly well.
