The five-spoke alloy wheel was fitted to Limited Edition MGB cars produced in 1979 and 1980, and remains one of the most recognisable and collectible wheel specifications associated with the late production MGB. The design was based on that of the Triumph Stag. The rim size was 5Jx14 with the normal MGB four-stud fixing.
These wheels were given an epoxy finish to overcome corrosion. The inset areas of the spokes and the recessed wheel centre were painted dark metallic grey, with rims, raised spoke edges, and the raised circle around the centre in a lighter alloy colour. The small centre hubcaps carried the MG logo, which was silver and black on North American and non-LE home market models, but silver and red on the home market LE cars. The five-spoke wheel was found on the North American Limited Edition Roadsters of 1979 to 1980, on all the GT LE models, and on 213 of the Roadster LE models.
It was also optional equipment on non-LE home market cars in 1979 and 1980. A polished 5x14-inch wheel represents the North American market Limited Edition specification. A dark grey and silver machined finish 5x14-inch wheel is an exact reproduction manufactured by one of the original equipment alloy wheel suppliers for the highest possible quality and finish. Both wheel specifications require Limited Edition type wheel nuts, which differ from the standard Rostyle and alloy wheel range and must be confirmed before ordering.
Limited Edition wheel centre caps are available in red or black MG finish, with centre cap retaining clips available separately.
