MGB Decals

Brightwork > Decals

Decals and identification stickers were applied throughout the production run, some visible on the exterior, others under the bonnet, inside the boot, or on individual components. They range from the body stripe sets that define the appearance of the limited edition models to the small service stickers, instructional labels, and identification plates that mark a car as correct in the details that matter to judges, inspectors, and informed enthusiasts. Each reproduction item is manufactured to match the original in size, colour, material, and adhesive specification. Body Stripe Sets The most visually significant decals are the body stripe sets fitted to the limited edition MGBs. The 1975 Jubilee GT was finished in British Racing Green with a distinctive gold tape stripe running the length of the body, a detail specific to this model that instantly identifies it. The 1980 Limited Edition Roadster carried a gold body stripe set, while the 1980 Limited Edition GT used a silver stripe set. These are reproduction stripe sets matched to the original factory specification. Complete Decal Sets Complete decal sets are available as exact reproductions of the original stickers, transfers, decals, and plates, assembled into sets covering specific model years and market specifications. These include the under-bonnet service labels, boot stickers, component identification transfers, and instructional decals that were applied at the factory and are almost always missing or illegible on a car of this age. For the MGC, three sets are available, Roadster non-North America, Roadster North America with the additional emissions and safety labels, and GT. For the MGB, separate sets cover UK and North American specification cars, reflecting the additional emissions, safety, and fuel specification labels required on US and Canadian market vehicles. Individual decals are also available separately for owners who need to replace a single missing item. The correct set depends on the car's model year and market specification, as the labels fitted changed at several points across the production run, and a car carrying decals from the wrong period is as incorrect as the wrong badge in the eyes of a knowledgeable judge, so identifying the car's chassis number range and original market is the starting point for selecting the right set.
