The trim fixings and finishers section covers the hardware needed to secure and finish interior trim correctly throughout the MGB cabin. Using the right fixings matters, improvised or incorrect clips and fasteners result in panels that rattle, lift at the edges, or pull away from the body over time. On the original production cars, the cross-head screws and cup washers used to fit trim panels were chrome-plated until January 1963, when this finish was replaced by a coating of Florentine bronze.
From 1970 onwards, the door liners changed from a stitched and sewn construction held on with screws to a welded construction held on with plastic trim clips, a distinction that affects which fixings are correct for the car's year.
Carpet Fixings
Carpet fixings include a GT carpet clip set, individual carpet fastening stud sockets and clinch plates, and black nylon button carpet retainers for securing carpet edges cleanly to the floor.
Hood & Tonneau Fasteners
Durable Dot press fasteners are available individually for hood and tonneau fitting, the male studs are riveted to the hood or tonneau cloth and engage with female sockets mounted on the body. Lift the Dot hood sockets and twin plate posts are available in sets or individually for owners replacing worn or missing fasteners on the soft top and tonneau fixings.
Door Liner Clips & Pop Rivets
Door liner clips are the plastic retaining clips that hold the welded-construction door panels fitted from 1970 onwards to the door frame. These are a consumable item, they break during removal and should be renewed whenever door panels are refitted. A pack of ten is available alongside individual clips. Pop rivets are available for panel and trim installation throughout the car.
Trim screws in chrome and black are available in kits for Roadster and GT.
Door Capping Brackets & Screws
Door capping brackets are available separately for Roadster and GT, four brackets per set, along with a dedicated door capping screw kit and the chrome and black finisher screws needed to secure the capping to the door. All associated screws in the sizes used across MGB interior trim are available alongside the main fastener components.
