MGF & TF Door Mirror Bodies

Bodywork > Door Mirror Bodies

The K071 Wing Mirror Cover is the primary Exterior Styling item on this page, a clip-on cover that fits over the standard mirror body to change its appearance without replacing the complete mirror. The cover offers a quick cosmetic upgrade (typically contrasting finish or styling) that can be applied or removed without disturbing the mirror's internal adjustment motor, heated glass element, or wiring. Fitment is common to both MGF and MG TF, since both models share the same basic mirror body profile from the 1999 electric-mirror specification onwards. Complete Mirror Assembly Ordering, Paint-Code Suffix System For replacement of the complete mirror assembly (body, adjustment motor, and mounting base), MGOC Spares uses a paint-coded ordering system. Five key specifications must be identified before ordering: Manual or Electric adjustment, manual mirrors are fitted to MGFs up to VIN XD511058, electric mirrors to MGFs from XD511059 onwards and all MG TF cars. Convex or flat glass, most markets use convex glass on both mirrors; Australia requires flat glass on the RH mirror specifically (left-hand drive markets in Australia required by regulation). Handed RH or LH, separate part numbers for each side. RHD or LHD market, the mirror body shape differs between RHD and LHD specifications because of the different angle of view required. Three-letter paint code, added as a suffix to the base part number. The paint code appears on the car's identification plate, mounted on the right-hand side of the under-bonnet compartment. Example: a right-hand RHD electric mirror with convex glass in Solar Red is ordered as CRB110160CMU, where CMU is the Solar Red paint code. MGF and MG TF were produced in approximately thirty factory paint colours including the familiar British Racing Green, Flame Red, Wedgwood Blue, and Trophy Yellow, plus the late MG TF Chromaflex finish that changes colour in different light. Paint Code Exceptions The identification plate code is correct on 99.9% of cars, but F Heritage early MGFs and Monogram customising-option cars may have non-standard colours. Most Monogram options were interior customisations with the original exterior colour retained, a minority received factory exterior repaints, and on some of these cars the identification plate code was left unchanged or blank. If the car is an F Heritage or Monogram specification, the current paint should be verified visually or by physical code reading from the paint itself before ordering a matched mirror, MGOC Spares can advise on verification procedures. Mirror Glass and Fixings Replacement mirror glass is catalogued separately from the complete mirror, in convex and flat specifications matched to the mirror type (manual or electric). Four fixing screws with matching screw-cover caps complete the mounting hardware. The mirror base is bolted to the door skin with the electrical connections passing through a multi-pin connector.
