The wiper arms and blades are the visible and routinely serviced parts of the MGF and MG TF windscreen wiper system. Two arms run in a parallel sweep pattern from spindles at the base of the windscreen, each fitted with a blade that clears the glass through its full travel. The driver's-side blade incorporates an aerodynamic spoiler along its top edge to generate downforce at high speed, pressing the blade firmly onto the glass and preventing it from lifting clear at motorway speeds. Three fitment groups apply: RHD (not Australia), RHD Australia, and LHD, the different sweep geometry for each market means arms and blades are not interchangeable across the groups.
Wiper Arms, Market-Specific Fitment
Three pairs of wiper arms are catalogued. For RHD (not Australia) cars, the driver's arm is DKB102030 and the passenger's arm is DKB102040. For RHD Australia cars, the driver's arm is DKB102540 and the passenger's arm is DKB102550, Australian homologation specified a different sweep pattern from the UK and European market. For LHD cars, the driver's arm is DKB102050 and the passenger's arm is DKB102060.
The arms are not handed in a way that allows a single-market pair to serve another market's car, the pivot positions and arm lengths are specific to each group.
Spindle Nuts and Caps
Each wiper arm is secured to its spindle by a nut and protected by a decorative cap. The driver's-side nut is a domed M-profile item (DYH100780) while the passenger's side uses a plain hex nut (NT108041). Both are covered by a matching decorative cap (DCP4918). The nuts and caps are routinely lost during arm removal and commonly corroded on older cars, so a fresh set should be ordered alongside any arm replacement, the cost is trivial compared with the frustration of trying to reuse corroded originals.
Wiper Blades, Driver's Side with Aerodynamic Spoiler
The driver's-side wiper blade incorporates an aerodynamic spoiler along its top edge, a design feature carried across to other Rover Group sports-oriented cars including the Rover 45 ZS and the MG ZS. Three fitments are catalogued: DKC000190 for RHD (not Australia) cars, DKC100840 for RHD Australia, and DKC100670 for LHD. The spoiler is functional rather than cosmetic, at motorway speeds airflow over the windscreen generates enough lift to hold a conventional wiper blade off the glass, and the spoiler provides the counter-pressure that keeps the blade seated. A non-spoiler blade fitted in the driver's position will give poor wiping performance at speed.
Wiper Blades, Passenger Side
The passenger's-side blade has no aerodynamic spoiler and is a conventional steel-framed blade. DKC100660 fits RHD (not Australia) and LHD cars, while DKC100850 fits RHD Australia. The shared RHD/LHD fitment reflects the broadly similar passenger-side sweep geometry across those markets. The passenger blade runs a shorter stroke than the driver's blade and does not benefit from the spoiler in the same way, the lower speeds encountered at the outer end of the sweep pattern do not generate the lift forces that the driver's-side blade has to resist at its top position.
Ordering Considerations
The two essential pieces of information when ordering wiper arms or blades are the car's drive orientation (RHD or LHD) and, for RHD cars, whether the original specification was Australia or other markets. Most UK and European cars will be RHD (not Australia), but cars imported from Australia, a small but non-zero population, require the different fitment set. Blades are a routine service item and benefit from annual replacement, particularly through the winter months when road salt and grit accelerate rubber deterioration. Arms themselves rarely need replacement unless damaged or the spindle splines have been compromised by over-tightening or corrosion.
