Polished brake drum covers are a cosmetic accessory that provides a decorative finish visible through the spokes of wire wheels. The cover clips over the outer face of the rear brake drum, hiding the plain cast iron surface behind a polished disc in either silver or gold finish.
Rear Brakes
The covers serve no mechanical function, they do not affect brake cooling, shoe adjustment access, or drum removal. They simply provide a clean, finished appearance to the rear hubs that complements chrome or polished wire wheels. Without covers, the dull grey cast iron drums are visible through the wire wheel spokes and can detract from an otherwise well-presented car.
Rear Brakes Specification
The covers are designed for easy fitment and removal, clipping onto the drum without tools. They should be removed whenever brake work is being carried out and can be cleaned with standard metal polish. On cars with steel or Rostyle wheels, the drums are not visible and covers are not applicable.
