Rear lamp clusters changed between the chrome-bumper and rubber-bumper eras, with different lens patterns, gaskets, and bulb holders. Chrome-bumper Midgets use a combined tail light, brake light, and indicator cluster on each rear wing, with a separate reversing lamp.
The rubber-bumper 1500 uses a different cluster with revised mounting and lens arrangement.
Rear Lights & Fog Lights Maintenance
Rear lamp lenses, gaskets, bulb holders, wiring connectors, and complete assemblies are available for all types. Lens colours must be correctly maintained, red for tail/brake, amber for indicator, clear for reversing. A cracked lens that allows white light to show rearward will fail the annual inspection. Lenses should be inspected for cracks at each service, as a hairline crack that admits water will corrode the reflector and bulb holder, eventually causing lamp failure.
Rear Fog Lamp
Rear fog lamp kits provide improved rearward visibility in poor conditions. The rear fog lamp mounts to the lower rear panel and wires into the existing lighting circuit via a dashboard-mounted switch. Number plate lamps changed at least three times during production, the lamp body, lens, gasket, and bulb vary by production date.
