Bodywork

Bodywork components for classic British cars, covering body panels in steel and where applicable in glassfibre, complete wings, doors, bonnets and boot lids, repair sections including sills and floor panels, bumpers in chrome and rubber configurations, brightwork, badges and the body hardware required for restoration and routine repair. Body Panels Repair panels and complete body panels are stocked across the major British classic applications. Wings, doors, bonnets, boot lids, sill sections, floor panels and inner-structure repair sections are produced to original profiles by established UK panel manufacturers, with British Motor Heritage panels being the benchmark for the popular MG and BMC applications. Where complete panels are no longer economically viable, sectional repair panels allow targeted rust repair without replacing more material than necessary. Bumpers and Brightwork Chrome bumpers in original profiles are stocked for the popular British classic applications, alongside the rubber bumper assemblies fitted to selected models from the mid-1970s. Bumper-mounting brackets, over-riders, blade trims and associated hardware are stocked. Brightwork, the chrome and stainless trim that defines the appearance of British classic bodywork, is supported with reproduction trim for the most common applications, including window surrounds, body-side trim, badge surrounds, drip rails and the smaller fittings that complete a restoration. Bodywork Hardware Door hinges, boot hinges, bonnet hinges, door catches, boot catches, body fasteners, rubber seals, weatherstrip and the smaller hardware items that bodywork restoration depends on are stocked across the major applications. Period-correct fasteners, the small hex screws and clip fastenings that are easy to overlook but visible to the discerning eye, are supplied where the original specification differed from generic modern fasteners. Restoration Notes Bodywork restoration on British classics is the most labour-intensive part of a major restoration project. Sectional repairs using correct repair panels typically deliver better long-term results than oversize patch repairs, and the cost difference between a correct panel and a generic patch is usually small relative to the labour involved. Newer owners considering a project car are encouraged to inspect the underbody and inner structure carefully before purchase, as visible bodywork condition can be misleading on cars where surface rust has been addressed but underlying structural rust has not.
