Front and Rear Lowering Kit
Whether carrying out a chrome bumper conversion on a rubber bumper MGB or simply wishing to enhance the appearance and handling of any MGB, this comprehensive front and rear lowering kit offers an ideal solution.
Originally developed to restore the correct ride height when converting a rubber bumper car to chrome bumpers, the kit is equally suitable for lowering chrome bumper models to achieve a more purposeful stance and improved road manners. By reducing the car's centre of gravity, body roll is reduced and cornering stability improved, allowing rubber bumper cars to regain the handling characteristics enjoyed by earlier chrome bumper models. In many cases, later cars fitted with the factory rear anti-roll bar can benefit from even sharper handling.
The lowered ride height also gives the MGB a more sporting and aggressive appearance, reducing the excessive wheel arch gap and providing a stance more in keeping with the car's original design.
The kit comprises a pair of lowered front coil springs (480lb rating with a free length of 8.62"), a rear lowering block kit complete with U-bolts and Nyloc nuts, and a pair of chrome bumper axle check straps. Designed to lower the car by approximately 1-1½", the kit is suitable for MGB models fitted with either Salisbury or tube-type rear axles.
Please note: In some instances, shortened front bump stops (MGS30756) may be required if bump steer or suspension contact is encountered after lowering.
