The MGC had a negative earth system and most parts were supplied by Lucas until later in production where parts were sourced elsewhere. It had a single fill 12-volt battery of type CA11E. A 16AC alternator with a remote-mounted 4TR electronic control unit was standard on MGCs from the start of production.
The alternator of type 16ACR, with surge protection was fitted when it became available for MGB. A Lucas M418G starter motor, the same as the MGB was standard. Lucas F700 Mark X were standard to the home market cars but the were many regional variations due to regulations.
