All MGC Roadsters were offered a choice of two hood types: the standard 'pack-away' hood and the permanently attached folding hood. The pack-away type had to be manually dismantled into its individual components and stored inconveniently in the boot, a design that discouraged owners from refitting it at the first sign of rain. The folding hood, by contrast, remained permanently attached to the car and could be erected or stowed much more quickly. Both hood types are the same as those fitted to the contemporary MGB Roadster.
Tonneau Cover
The tonneau cover was coloured to match the interior trim rather than the hood colour, an important detail for an authentic restoration that is easy to get wrong when ordering. The tonneau protects the cockpit from rain when parked with the hood down and provides a neat appearance when driving with one or both seats covered.
Weather Equipment Range
Car covers, hardtop fittings, hoods and fixings, hood care products, tonneau covers and fixings, windstops and deflectors, wipers, and washer bottles are all available for the MGC. Many of these items are the same specification as the contemporary MGB, with the notable exception of the washer fluid reservoir which is unique to the MGC. The MGC GT, with its fixed steel roof, does not require hood, tonneau, or sidescreens, but benefits from car covers, wipers, and washer equipment just as the Roadster does.
