Brake upgrades for the MGB GT V8 cover hose specification, pipework material, friction materials, servo specification, and the various lubricants and tools needed for brake service work. Braided Brake Hoses
Braided brake hoses replace the original rubber flexible hoses with stainless steel braided PTFE hoses. The braided construction does not swell under brake pressure, giving more consistent pedal feel and slightly improved pressure response at the brakes. They also offer significantly longer service life than rubber hoses.
Copper Brake Pipe Kits
Copper-nickel brake pipe (often called Cunifer) is a corrosion-resistant alternative to the original steel pipework. Copper-nickel pipe does not corrode in service and is easier to flare and form than steel, making installation more straightforward. It offers significantly longer service life than steel pipe in road conditions.
Servo Kits
Servo service kits include the components needed to renew worn servo internals, diaphragms, valves, seals, bringing a tired original servo back to as-new condition without complete servo replacement.
Uprated Discs and Pads
Uprated brake discs (vented or grooved) and high-friction-material pads improve braking performance for hard-driven cars. The level of upgrade should be matched to the rest of the car: aggressive pads on standard discs cause excessive disc wear; uprated discs with standard pads do not give the friction improvement that the discs are designed to support.
Brake Lubricants and Tools
Specialist brake lubricants for caliper guide pins, anti-seize compounds for slider pins and pad backings, and silicone grease for various brake components contribute to reliable brake operation. Brake tools, caliper piston wind-back tools, brake bleeding aids, pad spreader tools, make brake service work easier and reduce the risk of damage during the job.
