Complete copper brake pipe kits replace the entire rigid pipe system in a single operation, providing all the pipes from the master cylinder through the distribution adaptors to each wheel's flexible hose connection point. The kit is specific to right-hand or left-hand drive, as the master cylinder position and pipe routing differ between the two configurations.
Copper versus Steel
Copper pipe offers two significant advantages over the original steel specification. It is considerably easier to form and adjust, copper bends smoothly without the springback and work-hardening that makes steel pipe difficult to route accurately, particularly in the confined spaces along the TD and TF chassis rails. It also resists corrosion more effectively than steel, eliminating the risk of a corroded pipe failing under braking pressure, a potentially catastrophic failure mode. The pipes are supplied pre-formed and pre-flared to the correct shapes, but pipe bending tools in small and large sizes are available for any adjustments needed during installation to accommodate minor chassis variations.
