The MGC steel disc wheel is a five-stud design with ten rectangular ventilation holes, visually distinct from both the MGB's twelve-oval-hole disc wheel and the later Rostyle pattern. The wheels were painted in a silver-grey aluminium colour matching the MGB's wheel colour of the same era. Bevelled-edge hub caps, again different from the MGB's simpler flat hub caps, complete the standard appearance. Steel wheels should be inspected for buckles, corrosion around the stud holes, and general trueness whenever tyres are changed, as a damaged wheel causes vibration, uneven tyre wear, and can stress wheel studs.
Rostyle Renovation Kit
A Rostyle renovation kit provides 25 die-cut self-adhesive masks, one for every area of the wheel face, for precise painting to the original black and silver factory specification. The kit covers a complete set of wheels, making it suitable for a full four-wheel refurbishment in a single session. Before starting, old paint should be removed, centre caps and tyres stripped from the rims, and the wheel surface properly prepared by wire brushing or bead blasting for the best adhesion. The masks ensure crisp paint lines between the black and silver areas, replicating the factory finish.
Stainless Wheel Trims
Polished stainless steel wheel trims enhance the appearance of steel disc wheels, providing a bright finishing detail around the wheel rim that complements the silver body colour. These trims fit to the outer edge of the wheel and require no modification.
