The MGF carries two standard MG badges: front bumper and boot lid. The front bumper badge changed specification at MGF VIN 1D529867/1D529868, pre-1D529867 MGFs use one specification, post-1D529868 MGFs use a revised badge. The boot lid badge is a single specification throughout MGF production, retained by two blind-fix plastic fixings (catalogued separately and often replaced with the badge since the fixings frequently break on removal). The MG TF carries a single MG badge specification used in both front bumper and boot lid positions, the same 70mm badge serves both locations, simplifying ordering.
Rear-panel model designation badges on MG TF are catalogued in two variants: 'TF' for standard MG TFs and 'TF160' specifically for the 160 PS VVC variant. MG TF 160 cars from VIN 5D639631 onwards also carry additional 'TF160' badges on each front wing, a later-production identification detail.
Union Flag and Chequered Flag Badges
Union Flag/chequered flag combination badges were factory-fitted to later MGFs (from YD530673) and to all MG TFs, with a production change on MG TF at VIN 3D609350/3D609351. Two badges are supplied as a pair (one for each side). Both MGF and MG TF Union Flag badges are self-adhesive and can be applied to earlier cars that didn't receive them from factory.
For owners wanting something more substantial, MGOC's K013 Union Flag is an enamel-and-chrome badge (5cm × 3cm, slightly contoured for side-panel fitting), available as a badge alone, a fitting kit alone, or a complete kit including both. A single separate chequered flag badge is also catalogued as a stylised alternative.
Limited Edition Badges
Several MGF and MG TF special editions carry dedicated badges, catalogued individually for owners restoring or maintaining original specification. The MGF 75th Anniversary (1999) was distinguished by 'MG 1924 1999' front wing badges (×2) plus a dedicated 75th Anniversary interior badge. The MGF Trophy 160 carries a 'Trophy 160' rear panel badge. The MGF Freestyle limited edition has a 'Freestyle' rear panel badge.
On MG TF, the 80th Anniversary (2004) carries a '1924 2004' boot lid badge plus an interior plaque with its retaining backplate, and the MG TF Spark limited edition carries a 'Spark' rear panel badge.
MG TF 85th Anniversary Decal Set
The MG TF 85th Anniversary decal set, applied to the 50 production cars of this limited edition, is the most complex set of decorative markings applied to any production MG, comprising fifteen separate decal pieces. The decals were sourced from GSM of Brecon, Wales (the same supplier and material specification used by BMW at their Cowley plant for the MINI) and tested to a Honda-standard specification for adhesion and abrasion resistance. Every decal on every 85th Anniversary car was applied by hand by a single technician, Tony Mortimer. The distinctive graphic treatment proved popular enough to spawn numerous aftermarket imitations for fitment to standard TFs.
Supporting Items, Fixings, Clips and Labels
The boot lid badge blind-fix plastic fixings are catalogued individually (×2 per badge) and are typically replaced with the badge since they break on removal. Larger body badge retaining clips (sold as a pair) are catalogued for service replacement when a badge has been removed for bodywork repair or repainting. An MG TF coolant warning label, the engine bay safety decal warning of the cooling system's pressurised nature, is catalogued here as a small supporting part that is often damaged during engine bay cleaning or service work and needs refreshing to maintain the original engine bay appearance.
