Midget Badges

Brightwork > Badges & Decals > Badges

MG badges for the Midget changed across production, and the correct specification depends on the car’s date of manufacture. The MG boot badge, the most prominent badge on the car, existed in several versions. Early chrome-bumper cars used a metal badge with push-through fixing clips that engage with holes in the boot lid. Later chrome-bumper cars used a revised metal badge. The rubber-bumper 1500 used a gold-on-black adhesive-backed badge that represents the final evolution of the MG motif on the Midget. Badges Fitting Sill letter sets spelling MIDGET in individual chrome letters were fitted to chrome-bumper Midgets from 1970 onward. Each letter is held by push-fix clips pressed into pre-drilled holes in the outer sill panel. When fitting letters to a new or replacement sill, a template should be made from the old sill before removal, marking the position and spacing of each letter hole, to ensure correct placement on the new panel. Alternatively, photographs of the original letter positions taken before stripping provide a reliable reference. British Leyland and Later Badges British Leyland badges were fitted to the front wings from the introduction of the BL corporate identity. Initially, a badge was fitted to both front wings; from GAN5-118599, this was reduced to a single badge. The badge fixing clips and the badges themselves are available.
