MGB Copper Brake Pipe Kits

Brakes > Copper Brake Pipe Kits

Original steel brake pipes on surviving MGBs are now several decades old. Internal corrosion narrows the bore and weakens the pipe wall, while external corrosion can cause failure at the unions. Pipe runs were similar on all the early single-circuit cars, with slight differences at the rear depending on banjo or tubed axle. A much revised pipe layout was employed on North American cars with dual-circuit systems from 1968. Why Copper Malleable copper pipe does not corrode, is easy to shape neatly by hand, and outlasts steel significantly. Each kit supplies sufficient pre-formed copper pipes for the complete brake circuit with brass unions ready fitted and each pipe labelled for straightforward identification. Kit Selection Kits are available in RHD and LHD specifications across the full production run, chrome bumper single circuit to October 1974, rubber bumper single circuit 1975 to 1976 including V8, single circuit September 1976 to May 1977, and dual circuit from May 1977 onwards. LHD kits cover the equivalent periods. Identifying the correct kit requires knowing the production date and whether the car has single or dual circuit brakes.
