The cockpit trim and seals on an MGB do a great deal of quiet work. Door seals keep out wind, rain and road noise, cockpit liners finish the interior of the sills and lower body sides, and the cockpit rail trims the top of the door aperture where it meets the hood on the Roadster. When these components are in good condition the car feels tight and well-finished; when they are perished, split or missing the cabin becomes noticeably draughty and the interior looks neglected regardless of the condition of the seats or carpet.
Door Seals & Cockpit Liners
Door seals and cockpit liners are available in the correct profiles for the MGB, and correct fitment matters, a seal that does not sit properly against the door will not compress correctly when the door closes and will allow water and wind ingress however new it is. The cockpit rail runs along the top of the door opening and is a particularly visible piece of trim on the Roadster, where it forms part of the hood sealing arrangement as well as finishing the aperture.
