Carpet sets for the MG Midget are available in two quality specifications, both manufactured in the UK by Newton Commercial. The Standard (Club) specification provides a quality cut-pile carpet in the correct pattern for the car’s production date. The Ultimate (Club) specification uses the same cut-pile carpet but includes an additional bonded layer of soundproofing material beneath the carpet, neatly stitched bindings around all edges, and precision-moulded sections for the gearbox tunnel.

Both specifications are available in the full extended colour range including Black, Autumn Leaf, Navy, Ochre, Beige, Magnolia, Grey, Red, Maroon, Green, and Biscuit. The carpet colour should be matched to the production period and the chosen trim colour scheme. Each set includes carpet for the footwells, gearbox tunnel, rear cockpit area, and sills.
Ultimate Specification Soundproofing
The bonded soundproofing on the Ultimate specification provides noticeably better thermal and acoustic insulation than a standard set laid over separate soundproofing material, as the two layers work as a single integrated unit rather than shifting independently. For the best possible result, the Ultimate carpet should be combined with Dynamat Xtreme sound deadening applied to the bare metal floor before the carpet is fitted, this layered approach provides the maximum reduction in road noise and heat transmission through the floor.
