Drop glass (the main door window) components include the glass itself, the window winder mechanism, winder handles, glass channel felts, and the inner and outer weather strips that seal the glass where it passes through the door waist.
Left and Right Glass Profiles
The drop glass is specific to left and right sides, the curve of the glass matches the door profile on each side. The glass slides within channel felts mounted in the door frame. These felts are the most commonly replaced glazing component, as they harden and compress over time, allowing the glass to rattle in its channel and permitting water and draughts to enter the cabin. When renewing any window seal, replacing the complete set per door, inner weather strip, outer weather strip, and both channel felts, is recommended, as a new strip working against a worn felt will not seal effectively.
Winder Handles and Escutcheons
Window winder handles are available in original black plastic, chrome on brass, and polished aluminium. An escutcheon ring fitted behind the handle provides clearance between the handle arm and the door card, preventing the handle from scoring the trim panel during operation.
