Interior > Trim Screws & Fixings

The Trim Screws & Fixings section gathers the small fasteners used across classic-MG interior trim, the panel screws that secure door cards to door frames, the spire nuts that capture machine screws through trim panels, the small countersunk screws that fix decorative trim to the bodywork, and the various other small fasteners that come up during any interior trim work. These items are individually inexpensive but the right specification matters: a slightly wrong screw will not engage cleanly, the trim will not seat properly, and the finished appearance will betray the substitution. MGB & Midget Trim Panel Fixing Screws and Cup Washer Kits The headline MGOC product in this section is the MGB & Midget Black or Nickel trim panel fixing screws and cup washer kits, supplied as the matched set of screws and cup washers needed for a complete door-card or trim-panel refresh on an MGB or Midget, in either black or nickel finish to match the existing trim. The cup washer is the small decorative dished washer that sits under each screw head, distributing the screw's clamping load across the trim material and giving the visible finished look that defines a well-finished interior. Panel Screws and Self-Tappers Panel screws cover the small fasteners that secure interior trim panels to the underlying structure. The classic-MG specification typically used Pozidriv-head countersunk screws in either nickel-plated or chrome-plated finishes, with the appropriate thread length matched to the trim panel thickness. Self-tapping screws are used where the panel screws into a base material that does not have a pre-formed thread, typically wood, hardboard, or steel where a self-tapper is the appropriate choice. The thread profile and length is matched to the application, with appropriate variations between the panel screw arrangements on the MGB chrome-bumper (Pozidriv countersunk in 1-inch length being typical), the rubber-bumper MGB (typically slightly larger screws), and the various Midget, MGA, MGC and MGB GT V8 specifications. Spire Nuts, U-Clips and Captive Fasteners Spire nuts are the spring-steel sheet-metal nuts that grip a panel from one side and accept a machine screw from the other, typically used where access from behind a panel is impractical and where a conventional bolt-and-nut arrangement would not work. The spire nut grips the panel through its sprung legs, holding the captive thread in position to accept the machine screw being driven from the visible side. U-clips serve a similar function but with a different geometry, a U-shaped channel that slides over a panel edge, with a captive thread in the body of the U-clip that the machine screw engages with. Both types are stocked in the sizes used across classic-MG interior trim work, with appropriate variations for the panel thicknesses encountered. Decorative Screws and Specialist Fasteners The decorative screw range covers the visible fasteners where the head finish matters as much as the function, typically chrome-plated screws used on visible trim attachments, polished stainless screws used on cars built to higher-specification finish, and the specialist countersunk and pan-head patterns used where the screw head appearance is part of the interior aesthetic. The smaller specialist fasteners cover the various less-common items, the small machine screws used at switch plates and gauge attachments, the captive nuts used at specific structural mountings, and the various other small fasteners that come up during detailed interior work. The technical team is available to advise on the right fastener specification for a specific application and the appropriate finish for the visible installation.
