The wiring loom is the nervous system of the MGB and one of the most significant sources of electrical problems on a car of this age. Original looms deteriorate, insulation hardens and cracks, connectors corrode, rodent damage and previous amateur repairs introduce faults that are difficult to trace. The main wiring harness was changed repeatedly across the production run, split into a main harness for the front end and a body and boot harness joining up in the scuttle area. Individual wires were typically PVC-covered with the standard Lucas colour code system, with a braided cloth cover for the main harness on earlier cars.
Main looms are available across every annual specification change, in both vinyl and cloth insulation where applicable, cloth is the period-correct material for earlier cars. Dash looms, body looms, and tail looms are available as separate assemblies for both Roadster and GT. The headlamp switch lead for post-1976 cars and the dip switch loom are available individually for targeted repairs. Wiring loom tape is available in cloth and PVC, cloth tape is essential for correct appearance on a concours restoration.
Bulkhead grommets are available in five sizes for correct sealing. P-clips in multiple sizes are available for correct loom routing.
