The MGF front grille is a split design, two separate grille openings in the front bumper, an upper grille and a lower grille, forming the car's distinctive twin-nostril appearance. The front grille mesh kits are supplied as matched two-piece pairs, one mesh for the upper opening and one for the lower, that replace the original plastic grille slats with polished stainless steel mesh, the result being a more traditional sports-car aesthetic than the original plastic grille and a durable finish resistant to corrosion, stone chips, and UV degradation.
Two Mesh Patterns
Two kit variants are catalogued as complete pairs, a woven stainless steel mesh in a classic sports-car pattern with fine wire weave, and a hexagon pattern mesh in a more contemporary geometric design. The two patterns fit the same grille apertures and mount in the same positions, so the choice is aesthetic, and both kits are MGF-specific, as the MG TF has a fundamentally different grille design not catered for by either mesh option.
Coordinating Options
The front grille mesh kits coordinate with matching air duct mesh kits for a fully integrated front-end treatment, the woven grille mesh pairing with the woven air duct mesh and the hexagon grille mesh pairing with the hexagon air duct mesh, and many MGF owners buy both kits together for a consistent appearance across the full front end. For a more comprehensive upgrade, paint-matched bezels are catalogued in six factory colours including Tahiti Blue, Charcoal, British Racing Green, Flame Red, Nightfire Red, and Silver, replacing the side air duct bezels entirely with body-coloured frames containing stainless mesh inserts, tying the stainless mesh upgrade visually into the car's body colour.
Fitment
The mesh pair installs into the existing grille apertures without bodywork modification, fitment involving removing the original plastic grille slats from both upper and lower grille positions and securing the mesh inserts in their place. The process is reversible, as original grille slats can be refitted if the mesh is later removed, so the upgrade carries no permanent modification to the car.
