MGF & TF Bonnet & Engine Bay Detailing

Brightwork > Bonnet & Engine Bay Detailing

Unlike a front-engined classic MG, the MGF and MG TF have two visible bay areas each benefiting from detailing attention. The front bonnet lifts to reveal the radiator, coolant expansion tank, brake and clutch master cylinders, power steering reservoir, EPAS motor, and battery, while the rear engine cover, accessed via the boot, opens to reveal the K-series engine itself including the dipstick, oil filler cap, cam covers, and accessible engine ancillaries. Because owners and observers see both areas during routine use, cleaning, and shows, both bays reward cosmetic attention, more so than on a front-engined classic where a single bonnet conceals most of the mechanical presentation. Engine Cap Covers Four polished MGOC-branded engine cap covers are catalogued to dress up the most visible plastic caps in both bay areas, a dipstick cap cover fitting over the standard plastic dipstick handle to replace the dull black-plastic appearance with a polished metal finish, a polished oil filler cap with MG logo fitting the standard K-series filler neck threads, and matching polished covers for the brake and clutch master cylinder reservoir caps in the front compartment. These four items together replace the visual impression of four plastic caps with coordinated polished metal, a significant cosmetic uplift for show cars and cars driven at MG events. Reservoir Cap & Horn Bracket A fifth coordinated polished cap cover with MG logo is typically fitted to the power steering or equivalent fluid reservoir in the front compartment, completing the set of caps addressed by the dress-up range. A stainless steel horn bracket replaces the standard horn mounting bracket, functional as well as cosmetic, since the original mild steel horn bracket can corrode in the front compartment where it is exposed to road spray through the grille apertures, a corroded bracket weakening the horn mounting and risking horn failure or vibration, so the stainless replacement resolves both appearance and durability concerns. All items are direct-fit replacements or over-fit covers using the original mounting points, none requiring modification to the car, with installation tool-less for the cap covers, which snap or thread over the original caps, and standard fasteners for the horn bracket, and they fit both MGF and MG TF equivalently as the front compartment layout and engine dipstick and filler positions are common to both models.
