Console trim rings are polished aluminium or chrome-effect bezels that surround the console-mounted switches, heater controls, and instrument apertures. These small but effective items add a quality interior detail that transforms the appearance of the centre console from standard plastic to a more finished, premium feel. Trim rings are a simple push-fit or adhesive installation with no modification required.
Available Positions
Console trim rings are available for the heater control surrounds, switch apertures, and instrument bezels in the centre console area. The number of rings required depends on the console specification, manual climate control consoles have three rotary control positions (temperature, fan speed, and air distribution), while the switch panel has additional apertures for fog light switches, heated rear window, and other controls. A complete set of trim rings covers all visible apertures for a fully coordinated brightwork effect.
Fitment
The trim rings are typically press-fit or adhesive-mounted into the console apertures. They sit around the existing control knobs or switch bezels and do not interfere with the operation of the controls.
When fitting, the console surface should be clean and dry. On cars where the console has been replaced or the apertures are slightly different between MGF and TF specifications, the ring diameter should be checked before ordering. The console layout changed at the MGF Mk1/Mk2 transition (VIN XD511058/XD511059) and again for the TF.
