The door liners are among the most visible interior surfaces on the MGF and MG TF, and they take a great deal of handling, sun exposure and occasional water ingress over the car's life. MGOC Spares stocks a comprehensive range of door panel components covering both the original MGF ('Mk 1' style, to VIN XD511058) and the revised door trim fitted to later MGFs from XD511059 and all MG TF cars ('Mk 2' style), with everything from complete leather door pods through to the smallest retaining clips and drive fasteners.
Mk 1 and Mk 2 Door Trim Styles
As with the dashboard, MGF door liners changed significantly at VIN XD511059, and the same Mk 2 architecture carried over to every MG TF. Door liners, door pods and associated trim parts are specific to each style and are not interchangeable.
The Mk 2 door pods carry an additional silver finisher feature not present on Mk 1, which is available separately where only the finisher itself needs replacing. Confirm Mk 1 or Mk 2 style from the VIN before ordering any door trim part, getting this wrong is the single most common ordering error in this section.
Leather Door Pods
Replacement leather door pods are available in a range of factory-correct colours to match Club seats, gear lever gaiters, handbrake gaiters and console lids, allowing a fully coordinated leather retrim. Mk 1 pods (R802-series) are offered in Black, Cream, Red and Beige; Mk 2 pods (R803-series) are offered in Black, Cream, Red and Grey. Colours outside the standard range are available to special order to complement non-standard retrims. Door pods are supplied on an exchange basis, meaning the car's original pods must be returned to MGOC Spares when the replacements are purchased.
Door Pockets, Pulls and Lock Escutcheons
Door pockets add valuable storage space to the cabin and are offered in two forms: fabric-trimmed leather-look pockets (R804-series) in Black, Blue, Cream, Red and Beige, and a charcoal ABS plastic alternative (R805) with a bright edge moulding and integrated cup holder for a more utilitarian look. Both styles fit MGF and MG TF. Door pulls are specified separately for left and right, along with their mounting brackets and fixing screws, a full pair usually costs no more to refresh than trying to repair tired originals. For a subtle upgrade, the K820 octagonal aluminium door lock escutcheons replace the original black plastic escutcheons and lift the lock button area into a much more deliberate design feature.
Retaining Clips, Grommets and Fixings
Door liners are secured by a dedicated retaining clip assembly (EKM000050) comprising twelve clips with snap sacks, the snap sacks are included in the clip assembly but are also available individually where a partial replacement is all that is needed. Supporting fixings include grommets for the door liner (EYA10007 and BNP4106 in different positions), drive-type fasteners, and liner fixing screws. When removing a door liner for speaker access, window regulator work or water leak investigation, fitting a full fresh set of clips and grommets at reassembly is strongly recommended, the original clips are typically brittle after twenty-plus years and rarely survive a second removal.
Ordering Considerations
The two essential pieces of information when ordering door panel parts are the car's VIN (to confirm Mk 1 or Mk 2 style) and the original interior trim colour, particularly for leather door pods where colour matching to surrounding seats and trim is critical. Door pulls, lock escutcheons and fixings are the same across colour variants and only require the Mk 1/Mk 2 distinction.
Where the car has been retrimmed in a non-standard colour, the special-order leather service can be used to match, contact the MGOC Spares sales team with as much detail as possible about the existing trim specification.
