MGF & TF Finishers, Seals, Trim Clips and Interior Fixings

Interior > Finishers, Seals, Trim Clips and Interior Fixings

The small finishers, seals, trim clips and fixings that hold an MGF or MG TF interior together are the items most often overlooked during a project, and the items most likely to cause frustration at reassembly when a missing clip or a broken finisher stops the job being completed. This section of the catalogue aggregates the interior finishing components that do not belong to a specific subsystem: the visible finisher panels that cover joints between larger trim pieces, the rubber seals and grommets that close the cabin from the body structure, and the extensive range of clips, screws, studs and drive fasteners used throughout the interior. Speaker Grilles and Bulkhead Finishers The MGF from VIN XD511059 and all MG TF cars are fitted with rear-bulkhead speakers under metal grilles (XQB100940 RH, XQB100950 LH) that sit either side of the T-bar. The grilles are retained by starlock washers (EYF105390, eight per pair) and are a straightforward replacement when the originals have become scratched, corroded or bent. For the earlier MGF to XD511058, the rear bulkhead arrangement does not include speaker positions and the trim is closed by finisher panels instead. Either way, the bulkhead finisher fixings, studs, clips and drive fasteners, are stocked alongside the visible panels. Sill Finishers and Threshold Plates The sill area at the base of each door aperture uses a two-part trim assembly: a black plastic door threshold finisher (EAN100751PMA) that sits along the top surface of the sill, and an aluminium treadplate with a bright MG logo (EAP100790MMM or the paired-set K119) that fits over the forward section where feet pass over the sill. Both items take significant wear and are commonly replaced together when a tired sill area is being refreshed. Fixing screws (EYP10012, six per pair) and lokut nuts (DRC5582A) secure the treadplate, and fresh fixings should be ordered alongside the plates as the originals rarely survive removal. A-Post and Header Rail Finishers The A-post finishers run vertically between the windscreen and the door aperture on each side (EMB100620 RH, EMB100630 LH), and the header rail finisher runs horizontally along the top of the windscreen (EDG100170). All three are available in the two original interior colour schemes: Mist (a pale grey, suffix LUM) and Ash Grey (a darker grey, suffix LNF). The finishers are clipped into position by EYC10066 clips, four for the A-post pair, five for the header rail, and any removal for sun visor replacement, windscreen work or headliner repair typically destroys one or more clips, so a fresh set at reassembly is essential. T-Bar Escutcheons and Rear Bulkhead Fixings The seat belt escutcheons (EQG100280PMA) cover the anchor points where the belt webbing passes through the T-bar. For MGF cars to XD500005, an escutcheon modification kit (ESK100460K) was introduced to address issues with the original design; later cars have a modified T-bar and do not require the kit. Fixing screws (DA608054), drive fasteners (EZM10011), rear bulkhead clips (DKP5281 or EYC10064 depending on VIN), clip inserts (DZN10001), T-bar drive fasteners (EZM100320A) and bulkhead grommets (ALU1629) are all catalogued to support a complete T-bar rebuild. Confirm VIN against the catalogue before ordering as multiple breakpoints apply in this area. General Clips, Studs, Grommets and Screws Beyond the named subsystem items, the section covers the general-purpose fixings used throughout the interior: door cheater clips, loadspace carpet studs (AJU1136, BMK2217), drive fasteners for carpet-to-body (YXX4633PMA), self-tapping recessed-head screws, T-plate screws and clip assemblies in numerous positions. This section is best approached as a pre-project planning exercise rather than piece-at-a-time replacement. When removing any significant interior trim, seats, carpets, door liners, bulkhead finishers, sun visors, windscreen headers, listing the specific fixings that will come out and ordering fresh replacements for all of them is the most efficient approach. The individual cost of each item is small and the time saved at reassembly more than repays the outlay.
