The MGC was produced from October 1967 to August 1969, available as both a Roadster and a GT coupé. Total production was approximately 8,999 cars, 4,542 Roadsters and 4,457 GTs, making it significantly rarer than the MGA (over 101,000 built) or the MGB (over 500,000 built). The car carries the internal model code ADO52 and was powered by the BMC C-series 2,912cc inline six-cylinder engine producing 145 bhp at 5,250 rpm, giving it a distinctly different character from the four-cylinder MGB: smoother, more refined, and with considerably more torque for relaxed high-speed touring.
Relationship to the MGB
The MGC is fundamentally a six-cylinder derivative of the MGB, sharing the monocoque bodyshell with significant modifications to the engine bay, bonnet, floor pan, and front subframe. While the MGC shares many body panels, interior trim, rear suspension, and electrical fittings with the contemporary MGB (chassis numbers 138401 to 187210, model years 1967 to 1969), the engine, front suspension, braking system, cooling system, exhaust, and many drivetrain components are entirely MGC-specific. Understanding which components are shared and which are unique is the single most important consideration when ordering parts for the MGC, and it is the purpose of this catalogue to make that distinction clear throughout.
The MGOC Spares MGC Catalogue
This catalogue is designed as a supplement to the MGOC Spares MGB catalogue, covering only the components that differ from the MGB. Where sections refer the reader to the MGB catalogue, the relevant MGB parts for chassis numbers 138401 to 187210 (1967 to 1969 specification) are directly applicable to the MGC. MGOC Spares holds the most comprehensive MGC parts catalogue available anywhere, supporting owners with everything from routine maintenance to full concours restorations. With fewer than 9,000 cars built, the MGC is a rare and increasingly valued part of the MG heritage, and every car deserves the right parts to keep it on the road.
