The Other Electrical section gathers the electrical components that fall outside the main categories of Ignition, Lighting, Battery, Horns, Wash/Wipe and Aerials, the smaller specialist items, the switches and relays, the fuse and supply components, and the various miscellaneous parts that come up during electrical service or restoration work on a classic MG. The range is broad and the specific items vary by car application, but the section covers the components that any electrical service work is likely to need.
Switches and Relays
Switches and relays cover the broad range of electrical control components used across classic-MG production. Toggle switches and rocker switches for dashboard-mounted controls (heater fan, fog lights, hazard lights, overdrive engagement, and the various other accessory switches) are stocked in the appropriate visual patterns matching the original-equipment dashboard layouts. Relays for circuits where the original direct-switch arrangement has been upgraded to relay control (typically headlamps with high-wattage halogen conversions, where the higher current draw justifies relay protection of the original switch) are stocked in the appropriate ratings, typically 30-amp or 40-amp ratings for headlamp and accessory circuits. Specialist switches, the column-mounted indicator stalk, the headlamp dip-beam switch, the overdrive switch on cars so equipped, cover the specific functions that the broader switch range does not.
Fuses, Fuse Boxes and Voltage Regulators
The electrical-protection side covers the fuses and fuse boxes used across classic-MG production. The original BMC and BL fuse boxes used either ceramic or glass cartridge fuses depending on the period, with appropriate amperage ratings for each circuit.
Replacement fuses in the original specifications are stocked, alongside complete fuse-box renewal kits for cars where the original fuse box has corroded or failed. Voltage regulators for cars with dynamo-charged electrical systems (the chrome-bumper MGB up to 1968, and the wider earlier classic-MG range) are stocked in both the original Lucas RB106 and RB340 patterns and in modern electronic alternatives that provide more accurate voltage regulation than the original electro-mechanical units could achieve.
Terminals, Connectors and Supporting Hardware
The supporting electrical hardware covers the terminal types used through classic-MG production, Lucas bullet terminals in their various sizes, Lucars spade terminals, ring terminals in the appropriate sizes for battery and earth connections, and the specialist terminals used at specific applications (the alternator output stud, the ignition coil terminals, the various sender-unit connections). Cable in the appropriate gauges and colours for matching original loom colour-coding is stocked for owners doing electrical repair or modification work. Heat-shrink tubing in the various sizes used across classic-MG wiring completes the supporting range. The technical team is available to advise on the right specification for any specific application and intended use.
